About US
At the heart of the Lavender Book Co. is Catherine Parry, aka Cat.
For her it all started at a young age. In love with art, she exposed herself to a variety of styles and mediums from kindergarten through college.
The love of classic children's books was instilled by her mother from the beginning. The memories spent reading these books together, were always held close to Cat's heart.
Ten years passed where Catherine didn't touch art at all. It was only after becoming a mother, that she became inspired to bring the charm back to modern children's books.
"As a mother I wanted to find modern books to include in our at-home library to go alongside the classics. I had a hard time finding the books I wanted, ultimately this is when I was inspired with my first character, Theodore. Everything snowballed from there. My dream is to bring classic feeling books to the modern child. In other words, I want to bring the charm back." -Cat
*Keep an eye out in all of our children's books, there are easter eggs of the classics in every single one*
The Bigger Dream
The bigger dream from the beginning was to find other writers and physical illustrators to help create more classic feeling children's books. After 2 1/2 years of running it on my own, I decided to finally share my dream. I was blown away by the response.
I receive almost 200 applications in just 3 days. After going through every single application, I then held over 50 video calls, and then I had my team.
The team for LBC is made up of 28 women from around the world, all with one passion, creating beautiful books for children.
Every single book published under Lavender Book Co. will be created in house. Stay tuned for what's to come, and thank you for your support of Lavender Book Co.
