The feedback
Kasey O.
"Working with Catherine was a wonderful experience! I had written a book years ago and wanted to self-publish it but didn’t know where to start. Taking a chance, I reached out after discovering her profile on social media—and I’m so glad I did. She made the illustration process easy to understand and was always available for questions or discussions. Her communication was consistent, and I fully trusted her to bring my vision to life. Her artwork is both beautiful and timeless. Highly recommend!"
my philosophy
on the art
I believe that every aspect when it comes to illustrating a children's book helps tell you story. From the size and shape of the book, the medium, every perspective, it all boosts your story. This is why each project is given special attention. No two books are the same, so why make them look the same?
Illustration FAQs
Is Cat open for projects?
Yes! She is always accepting projects to look at. Submit any manuscripts and pertinent information to lavenderbookco@gmail.com and she will see if it's a project she would like to work on. She will also let you know if she is working on any current projects, and give you and estimated lead time.
How much does it Cost?
Cat takes in many factors when it comes to pricing your book out. Factors like the spread count and medium chosen will all play a part. Send your manuscript to lavenderbookco@gmail.com and if Cat is interested in your project, she can give you a quote.
How long will it take?
For a full picture book (around 16 spreads) this will take about 3-4 months. You receive spread by spread updates and will be able to request any changes in real time.
What is the process like?
After paperwork has been signed the first thing Cat will do is create her first full sketch. From here she will send it you for approval before starting the color. After the color is complete you will be able to approve it yet again. You can also request small changes at this step. This is repeated for each spread to ensure that both parties are happy and satisfied with the book.
What mediums does Cat work in?
Colored pencil is her most popular. That being said she also used watercolor for her second book and plans to use gouache for her third book. In the future she also wants to use acrylic and collage style. If Cat is interested in working on your project, she will walk through with you to decide which medium would suit your book the best.
