After being sent on an adventure by his mom he has a terrifying encounter with grumpy Harold Hoo. It's through this experience he completes the jump he has been wanting to realizing that he can accomplish scary things. He also realized where he needed to look all along for the confidence he so desperately wanted, within himself.

This copy is an 8x8 (inches) hardcover book. The cover has a soft touch matte finish complete with gold foiling. Each book will have an embossed logo, stamp on the back cover, and for the first run only they will be autographed by the author.

Wonderful Heirloom Book!

Wonderful books like "The Adventure of Theodore James" are hard to come by! The first thing I noticed when I received this book in the mail today is the gorgeous cover. The adorable picture frame drawing of Theodore wearing his backpack and the gilt lettering showed me at once that this is a special book with an heirloom look. When I peeked inside, I was delighted to find that Cat had signed the first page.

The book has a charming Beatrix Potter feel, in a "new classic" sort of way. The story is sweet and inspiring. Homey family scenes are juxtaposed with action and suspense, which culminate with Theodore's new-found self confidence. This is totally relatable for kids. The drawings are delightful; my favorite is when Theodore looks up while collecting seeds. Those three spilled seeds show the care taken to include such details. It is clear that a lot of love and joy went into this project.

This is a book worthy of recommending to friends, gifting to new moms, or presenting to favorite little ones, and it will have a very special place on my bookshelf.

Ordered a little while back and it arrived in great condition. Got Theodore James as a birthday present for my nephew and while I think he was initially confused because it wasn't a character he already knew, I'm pleased to say he was completely locked in when I read it to him later. He even chimed in a few times to point things out in the pictures. Very cute story and the illustrations are beautiful.

My two grandson's loved the story!!

My two grandson's, four and six, LOVED The Adventure of Theodore James and the Great Horned Owl! (They felt like the book had been written for them, since both their middle names are "James", after their late grandpa.) They've been practicing their high jumps now for weeks!! The story was a confidence builder.
